Newsletter for Bereaved Parents Group
by Norma Renfro, published in The Bereaved Parents Group of the USA, Paris, Texas Chapter (July 2006)
When I asked Nathan, who is only 28 years old, calling Australia home, why such a young person would be so dedicated to running a service as a memorial web site, he answered that even though the idea was actually started by co-founder John, that he actually enjoys the creative control of the site and offering people their services. He said, " It can be a little sad some days but I stay positive " Nathan lost twin brothers Chris and Greg Born 11-2-75 Died 11-4-75 so even he has his losses to live with.
I have spent over six years finding every memorial site on the web. Some are free, some are not but I have spent thousands of hours learning about all of them. I received an email from Nathan recently. He said that he had seen my daughter's memorial on one of the sites and asked my permission to place it on his site. I felt honored that he wanted to do this. We began a wonderful email friendship. I first went to the link for his site and was literally blown away with the work that has been put into it. It is not just a "place on the internet to put a person's photo and a few written words" This web site is special, dedicated not only to the memorials but also a place to go and find peace, share with others.
It is for the loss of anyone, not just a child. It offers everything from placing the photos, placing flowers, lighting candles, leaving the short stories you have written about your child or your loss in general, a place to put the poetry you have written and not shown anyone. Each section is special, in the forum section, find the one that fits your needs and you will find others to share the special loss you have.
In the forums, there are places for you to share books that have helped you in your grief, web sites that have helped you with newsletters, inspirational sites you have found that have beautiful poetry to share, sharing how people can help a bereaved person, sharing ideas on holidays and those anniversaries, learning how to finally turn loose of your loved one's belongings. I could go on and on because I have barely covered all of the site's treasures.
My favorite is the offer to create a DVD in memory of your loved one (or for any occasion you would like) a wedding or what a wonderful gift to give your parents with memories of their lives together. (My daughter's was awesome!) Go to this web site! It is wonderful !!! Norma Renfro
